The Latest Poop:

Here we find ourselves once again contributing to the cacophony known as the "Christmas Shopping Season", which, oddly enough, seems to begin at an earlier date each year. Averse as we are to joining the retail lemmings who vex you with an endless barrage of "holiday" nonsense, we must take into account that we offer craft supplies, after all; and actually executing crafts (if that is what one does with crafts) takes time. The stained glass craft in particular requires a bit more time than other crafts. And some of you slowpokes -- well, let's just leave it right there.

Some of the seasonal items featured herein can be created and enjoyed any time between now and the first thaw, but for those of you who celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah or the Winter Solstice and want to put your creations out for all to see, you had better get started, pronto. Especially you slowpokes.

Under new management

The venerable company of Whittemore-Durgin has officially changed hands, and is now owned and managed by the daughter and son-in-law of the former owner, who retired after 40 years of thankless hard work. Perhaps now he can sleep in on occasion.

The new youngsters at the helm insist that they will continue to run things as they have been run in the past, but clearly this is not so. The entire accounting system here has been overhauled and computerized, as has the inventory, purchasing and shipping departments (although they assure me that all of your purchases will still be gently packed by hand, and no robots will be employed in any capacity whatsoever). These whippersnappers claim that these changes will allow us to serve our customers more efficiently. We'll just have to see about that. What's more, they have told me they are redesigning the website "top to bottom."

If you have any requests, suggestions or comments, do not come crying to me, I implore you. Please direct your inquiries, etc., to info@whittemoredurgin.com.

From the mailbag

Dear WD,

As usual, the shipping box looked like it had been kicked for a field goal more than once, BUT also as usual the 22 sq. ft. of stained glass arrived without a crack and all intact!

Thank you again,
A Returning Customer

Dear Returning Customer,

I guess old football players never die, they just get jobs at UPS.

Thank you for the positive feedback.

Yours Truly,
