Last week the truck from Youghiogheny Glass pulled into our loading dock, and by the squeals of delight wafting through the air you would have thought the ice cream truck had come. From the Warehouse could be heard, “I want my Avocado Green Opal, White and Chocolate Brown High Strike!”; while from the Shipping Department someone hollered, “Make mine the Neodymium Pink, Copper Blue, Purple, Bubblegum Stipple!” In my day, it was the Wells Fargo Wagon that elicited such glee, but no one else around these parts remembers that but me.

The innumerable varieties of tasty flavors are now all nestled into their respective bins, and ready to be apportioned and sold. Some are new offerings for us, whilst some are things that have been merely out of stock for a spell.

Dear W-D,

You have made some nice improvements and additions, i.e. Bradley lamps, since my last visit. I looked over your etching section and wonder if you may have stored someplace in the broom closet pre-cut etching stencils of Greek lettering? I think Greek lettering on top of a jewelry box in sorority colors might just be a big hit, especially looking at what most of the local co-eds are driving as I drive by in my ole F-150.

Please say hello to your Office Manager for me. I am sure she'll not remember me but she has always been a standout for W-D when I order something.

It would appear that your kind note did not elicit a timely reply from us. It may be that it arrived on our virtual doorstep during a week of unprecedented chaos. We have had more such weeks lately than we'd like to admit.

In lieu of a timely reply, please accept this untimely one, as it were, with our sincerest apologies for its tardiness.

We do not normally carry stencils of Greek lettering, but we can easily get them from the joint where we get all our stencils. We would be happy to special order them for you if you wish, just name your letters.

Unfortunately, we can't get any large enough for your F-150, for you to impress the girls during your sorority house drive-by's.

Our Office Manager remembers you indeed. She is still a standout, despite the fact that she sits most of the day.
