From the Mailbag

"Therefore, since brevity is the soul of wit, and tediousness the limbs and outward flourishes, I will be brief."

- Lord Polonius, Hamlet, Act 2, Scene 2

If Lord Polonius is correct, this issue of Fairly Important News promises to be downright side-splitting.

Lower glass prices

On November 26, 2007, we lowered many of our glass prices. In fact, the list of glass items whose prices have been reduced is considerably lengthy -- about 225 of the 350 or so varieties of glass we carry. We direct your attention to just a few:

From the Mailbag:

Hey guys,

When the elves will deliver my order? Any guesses? Believe it or not, I'm real excited about the lead came I ordered and can't wait to try it out.

Mark J
Cleveland, Tennesee

Dear Mark,

The elves inform me that they've tried to reach you by phone. They also tell me they've used up the last of the wooden boxes on hand, and made themselves a bowling alley. (Some elves have way too much time on their hands, especially now that they've unionized.)

They would gladly ship your lead in a sturdy cardboard tube, however. It would cost significantly less than the wooden box, and we could ship it today. Would that be acceptable? If so, please let us know pronto, so I can howl at them to get back to work.

Regards,
Early A. Consternation
Manager of Externals
Whittemore-Durgin Glass Co.

Yes,

Tell the elves to take a break from bowling and to use the cardboard tube. Ask the elf involved in financial planning if he would take some "off" the overall bill for not having the wood box which goes for $12.00? can't remember exactly.

Tell the elves to "get the lead out," that break time is over.

Thanks,
Mark

I will gladly tell the elves to "get the lead out." I've always wanted to do that.

Darlene, our Elfin Comptroller, tells me we need to charge you $9 for the tube, instead of the $12 for the box. Not as big of a savings as I thought it would be, but I never argue with an elf, as a rule.

Your lead should ship today.

E.A.C.
